RE: Thanks,, but...

I need a part # for the seal on my gas cap! A kind soul sent me the part # for the entire cap. As always thank you. I'm sorry I don't have a answer for you,,, BUT, why do genius's post nonsense responses on legit questions? isn't this a place to ask questions? ask for help?

RE: Brands to stay away from?

Stay with these... the top line of Monaco, Country Coach, Foretravel, American Coach, or go for a Newell, Prevost conversion, or Bluebird. Wow great choices....I was thinking of the same list....only if $$$$ were not a issue I would have bought a country coach....

RE: Power Solutions Adapter

thanks for the help.... why yes that is it, I was going to just "follow another members instructions about tapping into the rear a/c circuit" easy enough until I read that you should also install a circuit breaker, not sure why the one on the podium would not suffice? any how I just decided to buy a "pre-made system" ....jim I have no idea about that, but not to worry, it's easy enough to make and wire in your own. If you already have one in there, then post whatever problem you might be having and someone is sure to help you out. You are talking about this, are you not? Dual Power Adapter I made mine up with what I already had on hand and mounted it on top of the shore power cord box. Didn't have an ideal type ckt. brk. that would fit in there, so I just installed a fuse holder with a 20 amp fuse. Unscrew the cap and install a new fuse if needed. The best reason for the fuse that I can think of is...let's say you tap into the 30 or 50amp campground circuit for this power. Now you've lost your protection and you still have with the light ext. cord between the post and your coach, but at least you've protected the internal wiring of the coach itself, which is the important thing.

RE: 3.51 amp draw on chassis batteries.....MYSTERY SOLVED

Just more generalized problem solving. One, did this coincide with the installation or repair of any electronic widget. Perhaps a new Navigation system? Has it always been this way, and you have decided to fix it? Or did the start of this problem coincide with any specific event? It seems I have always had a chassis problem, I have the "duvac" charging system on my coach...in short I had a bad 12v sense wire going to the alt. this made the alt bounce while charging....I just discovered my converter (6345 magnetek) is not charging my coach batteries (installing a xantrex XADC 80amp on sat) but the (chassis)has been discharging for many months (if I forget to throw knife switch) hopefully this weekend I will have a update.......if I find a solution, no matter how dumb it makes me look... I will post it...LOL....jim

RE: 3.51 amp draw on chassis batteries.....MYSTERY SOLVED

Are you sure, 3.51 Amps would kill your chassis battery within 24 hours....the 0.83 volts and 3.51 amps do not equate to one another if you are measuring across the open knife switch with the ignition OFF. It just does not add up....maybe 3.51 milliAmps but that still does not fit the 0.83 volts. I had the "electro tek" meter set on 10 amp setting and yes it drains the batteries in about 1 to 2 days,....if the engine is not running I open the switch.....???????????????????????? does this sound like a direct short? there is no sparking when I close the switch....... The fact that it kills your battery is crucial information for us, thanks for that. No, it is not a direct short, it is something drawing a lite load like a single light bulb (but not as much as head lights). Do you happen to have anything plugged into your OBD II port? I have a OBD II reader that will do this to me if I forget to unplug it, but my OBD thingy takes 4-5 days to kill the battery. Also, just to confirm, you are using a different + plug on the DVM for 10 Amps, right? It is not the same + plug for Volts as it is for 10 Amps, are we on track with that? Yea.... I connected to the 10A port on the meter....I will start pulling fuses this weekend to solve this mystery......

RE: 3.51 amp draw on chassis batteries.....MYSTERY SOLVED

Jim, I hate to say it but the last time we saw measurements like that we pulled our hair out until us geniuses replaced the battery in the multimeter. LOL... i wish that was the solution....new 9volt installed

RE: 3.51 amp draw on chassis batteries.....MYSTERY SOLVED

Do you mean .83 amps? How are you measuring it? tom...I have a multi-meter set on 20vdc...measure is across the knife switch on the neg post.....Jim Set the meter for 10A instead of volts and measure it again. That will give you a much more meaningful reading. Any significant draw should give you a reading of full battery voltage (12.6V) when you measure voltage drop (how you're doing it now). thanks, I will try that tomorrow.... Tom... the amp measure was 3.51

RE: 3.51 amp draw on chassis batteries.....MYSTERY SOLVED

With a .83 volt drop across a closed switch, it sounds like you have a very dirty sw, bad switch contacts. resistance should be very close to ZERO. This would cause a ZERO voltage drop across a zero resistance. JMHO the switch is open (measuring across open switch) and all contacts have been cleaned....jim

3.51 amp draw on chassis batteries.....MYSTERY SOLVED

It was the 12v duvac wire, I have it connected to the + side of the chassis relay solonoid (from the alt.), now I have to figure out why it is pulling amps when connected, at least I know where the problem is ..removed the wire and now the draw is .14amps ...normal, I believe.... thanks for all your wisdom and theories....Jim Hey all... I have a .83 volt draw ( 3.51.amps) on my chassis batteries...any idea's on what to check? this draw is on the chassis batteries not coach....thanks

RE: HELP!! Trying To Find Water Temp Sensor, 94 Cummins B-Series

jim, that could be a low coolant sensor. My Spartan has it on the Radiator tank for low coolant. temp sensors should be on the head or coolant manifold somewhere attached to head on most all cummins .tcr ,did you look on the sides also of head,if no others are on eng. it would have to be the one in picture. ahhhh....thank you sir....I would like to change my temp sensor since it is 12 yrs old.....thanks, Jim
